The NFL trade deadline is here, and the Eagles are in an unusual spot. They the team could become buyers, looking to acquire an edge rusher or depth at another position, they could be sellers, dealing a defensive player rumored to be a target for many teams, or they could do both.
During Monday’s episode of The Rich Eisen Show, NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero was asked about possible trades ahead of Tuesday’s 4 p.m. deadline. Pelissero said wide receivers and edge rushers would likely be the focus for many teams, which is unsurprising given the demand for those positions this season. He mentioned defensive end Bryce Huff as a potential trade candidate. Huff, who has recorded 1.5 sacks, two hurries, one quarterback hit, and five pressures in eight games this season, has only played six snaps.

According to Over The Cap, the Eagles currently have $10.1 million in available cap space, giving them enough room to make a deal if they choose to. But will they?
Here is the latest news involving the Eagles and the rest of the league as the trade deadline approaches:
Another edge rusher has been dealt
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the surprise teams in the league this season, leading the AFC North. Their defense has been the main reason for their success, and they are adding another pass rusher to join linebacker T.J. Watt. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Steelers acquired linebacker Preston Smith from the Green Bay Packers for a seventh-round pick. Smith has 2.5 sacks this season, and he brings experience not only in rushing the quarterback but also in covering the flat and hook/curl areas when asked to drop back—skills that fit the Steelers’ defensive scheme.
Eagles rival, division leader makes move to bolster secondary
The team leading the NFC East made a move to strengthen their secondary, paying a decent price to acquire him. The Commanders send a 2025 third-round pick, a 2025 fourth-round pick, and a 2025 sixth-round pick to the New Orleans Saints for cornerback Marshon Lattimore and a 2025 fifth-round pick.
Lattimore has 30 tackles, two passes defensed, and has allowed a quarterback rating of 74.4. According to Pro Football Focus, when Lattimore faced the Eagles in Week 3, wide receiver DeVonta Smith was targeted twice, with Lattimore allowing only one catch for 14 yards. The Eagles will face him twice more, beginning in Week 11 when they play the Commanders on “Thursday Night Football.” The Saints appeared to be sellers after firing head coach Dennis Allen, following a seven-game losing streak.
Eagles coordinator does not believe a trade will happen
Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio was asked about the trade deadline and if he believed he would be getting a new player before the deadline. Fangio said from his perspective, it will be a quiet deadline.
“I haven’t heard anything that we’re involved with anything either way, so I’m assuming we’re not involved with anything, and I’m pleased with what we got and to move forward with it,” Fangio said.
With some of the moves that have been made already, there may not be that many impact players that warrant a significant draft pick to be used, especially at edge rusher now that Smith is off the table.
Cowboys acquire a wide receiver
The Eagles’ next opponent, the Dallas Cowboys, are trying to turn their season around, hoping to add some offensive help to make that happen. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Cowboys sent a 2025 fourth-round pick to the Carolina Panthers for wide receiver Jonathan Mingo and a 2025 seventh-round pick. Mingo, a second-round pick by the Panthers in 2023, has 12 catches for 121 yards. Mingo’s speed can help stretch the field, but his inconsistency has yet to yield results, but the Cowboys are hoping a change of scenery will get him to reach his potential.
Running back from potential playoff team dealt
The first trade of the day involved a team the Eagles faced two weeks ago and a team fighting not only for their division but also for a wild-card spot. The Cincinnati Bengals are sending a 2025 seventh-round pick to the Chicago Bears for running back Khalil Herbert. Zack Moss, a key part of the Bengals offense, suffered a neck injury that will likely force him to miss the rest of the season, and Herbert’s presence should help stabilize the position alongside Chase Brown. The Bears, who are fighting to remain in the race for the NFC North and are still in the thick of a wild-card spot, acquire a Day 3 pick that will essentially be a lottery ticket, either using it to move up in the draft or pick a developmental player.
Lions get a replacement for Aiden Hutchinson
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Lions sent a 2025 fifth-round pick and a 2026 sixth-round pick to the Cleveland Browns for edge rusher Za’Darius Smith and a 2026 seventh-round pick. The Lions needed someone to replace Aidan Hutchinson, who fractured his tibia and fibula and is out for the season, though he may return if the Lions reach the Super Bowl. Smith, 32, has five sacks this season. At 2-7, the Browns are struggling and looking to accumulate picks for a rebuild.
